Birds of Prey Hides

A wonderful opportunity to photograph and study two of Britain’s iconic bird of prey species. Wild Buzzards and Red Kites come down to a chalk downland site on the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire along with Ravens, Jackdaws, Carrion Crows and Magpies. You have the chance to take photographs of them interacting and feeding, as well as creative shots of them against the surroundings. Observe the pecking order of the Buzzards and how they go about protecting the prey.

The hides are now closed for the Summer, however we are now taking advanced bookings, and opening on October 23rd 2023.

Our hides are located in a quiet spot away from a public footpath. A drinking pool has been created where you can capture bathing shots too.

The Hides

Our Glass Hides offer photographers the opportunity to shoot through a single pane of very high quality one way reflective glass that’s been shipped in from Spain. We all know how timid these birds are and especially during the first few moments after landing, so with the new reflective glass gives the photographer much more flexibility in being able to take photos as the birds approach in flight and also as soon as they land. It will also be much better for swift camera movements during any fight that may break out between birds in the feeding area. The glass has very little impact on the quality of the images. We have two hides side by side which are virtually the same in every way so nothing in it to choose between them.

The hides are located just a short drive south of the M4 from either junction 15 or 16.

Four seats are available, two in each adjoining hide. If you buy one seat you may be sharing with another person. If you want to have the hide to yourself buy two tickets. If you wish to share with a friend, each buy a ticket.

Price: £175 per seat

Further discounts apply if you wish to take both hides for the day perhaps to run your own workshop or for a bigger group of friends – Please get in touch

Please note: To avoid any confusion, when you click on this link you will be taken to Wildlife Photography Hides. Tom Robinson does all the hide bookings for me. While you are on his site, I do suggest you look at his hides too. They are well worth a visit. He is based near Bourne in Lincolnshire, whereas we are on the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire.
